ELECTRIC POWER

NEW CHARGING SYSTEM (P.A.) Hawera, April 2. The Price Tribunal’s approval’ has been secured by the South Taranaki Power Board for a change in the sys- i tern of charging for domestic consumption of power where a waterheater is installed. The change is the introduction of a monthly charge of sixpence a month for each 100 watts, plus all units used in the house at a halfpenny up to a certain number, with the balance at one penny. The new system of charging is an alternative to more severe rationing, and may be adopted generally in the Dominion. New charges as applied to water-heaters in dairies have been held in abeyance pending receipt by the Price Tribunal of reports from the Dairy Division of the Department of Agriculture.
