EVENING SEWING CIRCLE 0.C.) Waverley. April 3. The annual meeting of the Waverley Evening Circle was held in the Rest Room on Tuesday night. Mrs. Howie presiding over a good attendance. It was reported that there were 47 working members, and £B9 was bandied throughout the year, this amount being irom donations, competitions and the "bring-and-buy” stall, which realised £22 5s 7d. The secretary reported that 407 articles had been knitted during the year, also one or two things for the Red Cross. The Upper Waitotara branch had knitted 126 garments. Articles have been knitted for the Wanganui zone. The oldest member of the circle has knitted over 60 skeins into comforts for the Armed Forces. During the year 189 parcels have,been packed and sent to local boys overseas, and 14 parcels for the National Patriotic Appeal. At Christmas every local boy overseas was sent a parcel and a Christmas bers. - ng tai the Middle East and on another occasion Lieut.-Colonel Graves and Private D. Palmer also spoke. Lieut.-Colonel Graves congratulated the club on the good work it was doing and emphasised the appreciation ot the boys who received parcels. Barnett. O. Bourne. A. Davis. A. Wall. L. Heginbotham and M. Cunningham, the last-named being in charge of the parcel packing. WAVERLEY CITIZENS’ COMMITTEE. The annual meeting of the Waverley Citizens’ Committee was held in Mr. Bilton's office on Wednesday evening. the deputy-chairman. Mr. J. D. Newland, presiding over an attendance of 20 members. The audited balancesheet, showing a credit balance of fly 7s 3d. was adopted. Mr. E. C. Dallison was elected chairman for the ensuing year and Mr. .1. I). Newland was reelected deputy-chairman.
