BEAU VITE WINS

A.J.C. MEETING OPENS AT ROSEHILL TUHITARATA’S DONCASTER (Reed. 6.30 p.m.) Sydney, April 5. Beau Vite scored a clear-cut win in the Autumn Plate at the Australian Jockey Club’s autumn meeting, run at Rosehill. Beau Vite and Velocity raced together early, but Munro took Beau Vite to the front around the seven-furlong post to lead into the straight narrowly and then go away for a comfortable three lengths. The pace was on only for the last seven furlongs, and Beau Vite ran the last half-mile in 49sec. The Doncaster was a closely-con-tested race, half the field being abreast only a furlong from home, but Tuhitarata had a length and ahalf to spare at the finish. Arahura’s second was the best effort of her career. She came home in grand style. High Caste was in the middle of the field at the three-furlongs post, but was checked entering the straight and his jockey had to take him wide on the outside. He made a fast-linish-ing run and reached fourth place. Principal results are:— Sires’ Produce Stakes. Hallstand 8.10 (Cook) 1, Hesione 8.8 (Munro) 2, Angel 8.8 (McMenamin) 3. Fourteen started.
