WOMEN’S BASEBALL
WANGANUI BEAT MANAWATU. A line day graced Gonville Domain on Saturday when 'the Wanganui Women's Baseball Association conducted the closing tournament of this season. In a close and spirited game Crown defeated Kia Toa after an extra innings had to be played. Both teams played excellent baseball and finished a "good game, with the score leading 14 to 13. In a later game against McGruer's, Kia Toa had a win by 10 runs to 8. A representative match between Manawatu and Wanganui provided a splendid exhibition ol play. The teams were evenly matched and in all branches of the game there was little between them. The scores are:—Wanganui 3, Manawatu 2. The highlight ol the day’s sport was the reUh between the men, comprising umpires, coaches and managers oi various teams, and a specially selected team irom amongst the women players. A touch of the burlesque was lent to the scene by the men arriving on the field strayed in borrowed uiiiioims from seme of the ladies. The scares are:—The Ladies 20, The Men 16.
