Committee for holding up their appeal ’ during our campaign.” OPENING OF CAMPAIGN ARRANGEMENTS FOR TO-DAY At 12.30 p.m. to-day. Sergeant C. Knight, D.F.M., first New Zealand airman to be decorated in this war will give the order. “Quick march.’’ which will be broadcast to parades in every place where there is a National Savings committee and will signal the opening of “Bonds for Bombers I Week. The Wanganui ceremony will be officially opened by Lieutenant J. B. Cotteriil, M.P.. outside Messrs. Dobbs Bros.’ premises in the Avenue, immediately after the conclusion of the Wellington ceremony, which will be rebroadcast through loud-speakers. Indications suggest I hat the success of the campaign is assured. The sale of bonds particularly those of £1 and £lO denominations, promises to be unprecedented. Assurances have been received by several country postmasters that several £lOO bonds will be taken out. In Wanganui the district organiser, Mr. J. Gillick, has already been advised of one application exceeding £lOOO. A special appeal is being made to large companies, business firms, sports bodies and instiiu- ; tions to invest in “Bomber Bonds” th" maximum amount of surplus funds available for the duration of the war. Arrangements have been made for the sale of bonds at various points in the Avenue, and in the vestibules of picture theatres, during the week. This morning members of the W.W.S.A. will commence the distribu- , tion of posters and window stickers throughout the city and suburbs. , Business firms are requested to cooperate by placing the posters in windows for the period of the drive. TEACHERS' DECLARATION WHOLE-HEARTED SUPPORT (P.A.) Wellington. March 22. The New Zealand Educational Institute has decided to purchase £lOOO worth of Bonds for Bombers. - ; "This decision represents a collective declaration that the teachers ol ; New Zealand arc whole-heartedly supporting the war effort, and is very practical evidence they fully appre- ■ ciate the menace involved in the JapaI nese threat to the democratic liberties and educational standards of the Do- ■ minion” savs a statement by the institute.
