FACTS ABOUT FURS SABLES From the viewpoint of colour, texture and lustre, the Siberian Sable is the finest species of the : Marten family, and those from the northern limits of North America are next in fineness. Other species are also found in China and Japan, I hut these are very much inferior in 0 colour and quality. Russian Royalty derived large revenues from the sale of sables in the days of Ihe Tsar, sables being then considered Royal property. Great care is exercised in trapping and treating these animals so that the fur is not damaged. The skins S are usually used for lies, and it is I only on garments of Iho most rost- | ly type that they are used as trim- | riiings. The Russian sables have furs varying from a medium brown to an almost black, the latter variety are invariably bought up eagerly by private purchase and are rarely placed on the market.
