TIRPITZ ATTACKED
NEW GERMAN BATTLESHIP FOUND OFF COAST OF NORWAY London, March 11. British naval aircraft have been engaged with the German battleship Tirpitz. The Admiralty has announced that . the 35,000-ton German battleship was attacked by naval aircraft on Monday. Reconnaissance showed that the vessel had left Trondheim, in Nor- , way, and was proceeding in a northerly direction up the coast of NorI way. On March 9, the Tirpitz was attacked with torpedoes by naval aircraft. It was not possible to observe in detail the results of the attack, but when last seen the Tirpitz wa, returning towards the Norwegian coast under cover of a heavy smoke ’ screen. Two aircraft are missing from the assault. The Tirpitz is a sister ship of the Bismarck, which was sunk, and this is the first news of her having been ip action. NEW TORPEDO-BOMBER Rugby, March 11. The First Lord of the Admiralty, Mr. A. V. Alexander, disclosed in the House of Commons that a very much more powerful and faster torpedobomber than the Swordlish and the Albacore is coming into production.
