EMERGENCY PLANS
WANGANUI E.P.S. CONTROL EXKCITIVF, MKETLMi HKIJt. Evacuation plans, compuksoiy enrolment in the Emergency Reserve Corps, Protection of Schools and fooci supplies, were among the questions discussed at a meeting \e.sterdav afternoon, of the Wanganui E.P.S. Executive Committee. I'he Mayor, Hon. W. J. Rogers, M.L.C., presided. Mr. Rogers welcomed the secretary of the Wanganui Education Board, Mr. G. N. Boulton, who has succeeded Mr. N. Annabell as representative oi the Schools Protect ion Committee. Mr. Annabell has loft Wanganui, ano appreciation of his services was expressed. Mr. J. B. G. Bradley, who has undertaken voluntary E.P.S. service, was introduced to the meeting by the chairman, who expressed warm appreciation of the assistance Mr. Bradley is giving. At. present. Mr. Bradky is classifying enrolments under the compulsory system. Several circular letters were received from the National Service Department regarding urgent E.P.S. questions. The letters were referred to the controllers and it was decided io takg. all necessarx action. It. was ieporlcd that our E.P.S. section for Wanganui ministers had been forme.:. ihe clergymen had been issued with E.P.S. aim-bands. An offer by the Wanganui Master Grocers’ Association to assist with the distribution of food supplies was accepted, subject to necessary arrangements being made with the Food Controller, Mr. F. H. Bethwaite. On behalf of the Wanganui Health Camp Trust Board, Mr. A. R. Donaldson intimated that at the request o Dr. Alexander Wilson, controller of the Medical Section, he had written to the King George V Memorial Trust Board seeking its permission for the use of the building and equipment at the Wanganui Health Camp. The board agreed to the request, subject to a guarantee being given by the local E.P.S. Executive that equipment usee would be returned in good repair. The Schools Protection Committee reported on various matters relating to its organisation for the dispersal c. children to their homes in the event of emergency. A conference between the Law and Order Section and the Schools Protection Committee, regarding air raid shelters at Castlecliff schools and the dispersal ol children, will be held in the near future.
