LICENSING AUTHORITY
SITTING IN WANGAXT I. The No. 2 Transport Licensing; Authority. Mr. J. P. O. Skoglund. sat' in Wanganui yesterday. A licence was granted the Wan- : ganui River Services Co.. Ltd., to! carry timber from Rangataua to Ra- i nana and Jerusalem. D. J. McCallum was granted a licence to carry goods from Wanganui' to Raorikia for the Maypole Stores.' and also mails. A transfer of a passenger service licence from A. J. Henley to T. IL 1 Thompson, Mangamahu, was granted.; A general goods licence w as grantee i to Tompson and Foley at Waiouru. i Ar. application for a carrier’s 1 licence in Wanganui by H. Rudkin i was refused. The application was. opposed by Mr. E. W. F. Gohns for | carriers. Mr. Gohns said that three, applications for carriers' licences for' horse-drawn veh’cies had recently! been macle b\ the Wanganui Cit\ j Council. These had been held up until the coun< 11 had heard a deputa-i tion from the carriers. Mr. Skoglund said lhal there weiel plenty of town carriers in Wanganui I and there was no room for others.
