FIRES ON SHIPS

F. 8.1. INVESTIGATION IN U.S.A. New York, March 9. Fedora] officials began a rigorous investigation at Philadelphia to-day of a series of fires on the Delaware River waterfront. Firemen worked for six hours yesterday to extinguish flames in the engine-room of a tanker. A British freighter caught fire in a storeroom over the fuel tanks on Thursday, and another freighter was damaged by fire below decks on Friday. Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation regard the outbreaks seriously.
