NEW CALL-UP SYSTEM
SERVICE IN AGE GROUPS RECLASSIFH ATION OF GENERAL RESERVE. (P.A.) Wellington, March 9. A new classification order to meet the age-group system oi calling men lor military service was issued last night. The composition oi the three Services of the General Reserve remain unchanged. The First Division single men* is divided by the new order into four classes:--Class S-18-19 (those not ye!. 2(D; Ciass S-20 (those 2U but not 21); Class S-21-40 'those 21 but not ye*. 41); Class S-41-45 ttiiose who have reached 41). The Second Division 'mail led men) is divided into 32 cias.-o. The first four classes, are lor childless married men, namely, M-18-19 »under 20); M-20 (20 bui n * 21 >: M-21-40 (21 but not 411; M-41-45 (those who have reached 41). The remaining c.as.-e< are lor married men who have a child or children. Just as the single men’s classes were preceded by the initial S and the m? ried men without children by M, the classes for those with a child oi ihe initial letter C. They range from Class C-18 (those not 19) t > Ciass C-45 (those 45 but not 46». The numeral of each class corresponds io th- age of the reservist contained in it. As before, a man is deemed to be unmarried if he <a» has never been married; (b) is married out his marriage took place on or after May 1. 194(1, and he has no children; (c> is a widower with no children; id, his marriage has been dissolved, or he is judicially separated Horn his wife by decree of judicial separation, separation order, or otherwise, and he has no children. AH other men are deemed to he married. For the purposes of the older the term “ihild” is used irrespectively ol age. and tn< tides «a> a child legally adopted by the reservist before May 1. 194 i), if he was married before then, hut ’ includes no other adopted children; »m» a i n.’.J of the reservist s wife if he married the mother before May 1. 184<>. but includes no other step-children; «c> a legitimated child of the reservist if he married the mother before May 1, 1840. but includes no other legitimated children. For the purposes of the order a child who has been legally adopted by an', person shall not be regarded as a'child of his natural parent-. If any child of a reservist has during the present war. died while a member of anv armed force, that child is regarded as one of the children of that reservist in the same manner as if he had still been living. Exceptions to the First and Second Divisions are ia' members of any armed force liable as such members - - N Zealand; 1: • men discharged after ovrseas service in consequence nf disablement or i health; <<» men in prison for not less than a year or confined because o mental unsoundm*ss; •d • Natives within the meaning of the Native Land Art; <e> men called up. but whose appeals on conscientious grounds have been allowed; (f» men declared permanently unfit for service with the armed forces.
