Upon the civilian population it drove home with a sense of horror the treachery of the foe we have to defeat. Ths gave us what wc must have, and now did have, a completely united country for the prosecution of the war to a successful conclusion. So out nf this affair of treachery ultimate good would come. Although Japans very considerable fleet was at present by far the largest in the western Pacific, victory would come to the United S ales and the Allies eventually and inevitably. The United States is the greatest single economic force in the world today. ard with her allies could outproduce the Axis Powers in all the materials of war in planes, ships, tanks and guns. Tn addition to Britain China and Russia with their vast resources small nations which had Joined the allied cause and the under < grotind activ t’es of the ponvedion of the occupied r>r r Rs had already created a new front in the heart of conquered Europe.
