U.S. FOOD SUPPLY

OF RECORD ABUNDANCE (Rec. 11.55 p.m.) Washington, Dec. 17 The Secretary for Agriculture. Mr. C. R. Wickard, in a statement to-day. said the nation’s food supply was of record abundance and there was therefore little excuse for any substantial increase in the prices of farm products as a result of the war. Th*' Agriculture Department intended to do everything in its power to check speculative increases. The Agriculture Department at Washington to-day announced a programme for supplying food, and other civilian needs for Hawaii. Requirements will be bought, shipped and stored as necessary for use and will be financed by the Marketing Administration.
