KILLING SEASON AT IMLAY WORKS DAILY KILLING. Killing at the New Zealand Refrigerating Company's Imlay works is reaching its peak and the figures since the beginning of the season are well up on those recorded last year. Daily killings average about 6000 and lambs are coming forward well. The official figures of killings for the present season at the Dominions freezing works from October 1 until November 29, as issued by the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board show that lamb killings total 383.370 carcases. compared with 156.835 carcases for the first two months of the 194b--41 season. Wether mutton killings are 30.658 carcases, and ewe mutton killings 10.252 carcases, compared with 1050 and 3240 carcases respectively for the same period last season. Details of the lamb and mutton killings in the North and the South Islands, with figures for the previous season in parentheses, are: - North Island: Lambs 328.079 156Sl(J>; wethers, 29,945 ll046t; ewes. 10.038 ( 3240). South Island: Lambs. 55 291 (25': wethers 713 (four); ewes. 214 'nonetFrozen beef production is 9592 quarters compared with 14 257 quarters last season. Porker killings total 16.840 carcases, an increase of 13.741. while baconers total 56 734 carcases, a decrease of 10.713.
