RACES POSTPONED

AWAPUNI AND WAIRaRAPA According to a Press Association message from Palmerston North, the Manawatu Racing Club’s three-day summer meeting has been postponed, the Awapuni Racecourse having been occupied by the military authorities. The meeting has not been cancelled, but will be held later in the season if suitable dates and other arrangements can be made. Nominations for this meeting were taken last week and were of very satisfactory dimensions.

It was stated last night that the Wairarapa Racing Club’s New Year meeting at Tauherenikau, nominations for which were to close last night, has been postponed because the racecourse has been taken over by the military authorities.
