Sullivan, announced that serious inductions are made immediatt in petrol allowances. No petrol will be available uni further notice for pleasure running. The present system of deliveries foods;uffs and essential commoditic must be substantially curtailed. Th* Government realises these restriction will seriously affect the livelihoods o* many people, but the steps being taker, are the results of necessity. The Government regards it as essential to national security that o. present petrol slocks be conserved t the utmost possible extent. A largf number of private car owners probably have considerable petrol in thentanks. and the Government asks that they conserve this petrol for them selves, or their country, in the emergency. and refrain from any pleasure or holiday running in the meantime From the time nf this announcement no coupons are available until further notice, and all allow anecs for pleasure launches are cancelled. All licences will need to he drasttrailv reduced nr cancelled. Over the week-end all cards vveir being called in from resellers. Therei fore, it will he necessary for liccnreholders to present their licences fo; I review before further supplies may hr . drawn. DRASTIC CURTAILMENT RAILWAY ROAD SERVICES Because of the urgent need to eon serve petrol, road motor services havt been drastically curtailed. As iron to-day all services operating between Wellington. Wanganui and New Plymouth are cancelled. The only trips w ill he one each wav between Wanganui and New Plymouth. A car will leave New Plymouth. at 9 a.m. daily and reach Wanganui at 1 p.m. On the return trip it will leave Wanganui at 5 p.m arriving at New Plymouth four hours later.
