WANGANUI HOME GUARD
SYLLABUS FOR TO-MORROW All companies of the Wangamrt Home Guard Battalion will carry out training to-morrow. A and B Companies will be on musketry; C Company, test of elementary training and rifle instruction; D Company, musketry, hand grenades and field exercises. The Engineers’ Company will begin construction of a field service bomb-proof shelter for live hand grenade practice. Signallers will parade at signal school, their subject for training being range discipline. The success of the Home Guard In an emergency depends on the trained man and enrolled members must see that they are up to the standard hy attending their unit parades. Enrolments are being accepted from those in the 16 to 55 years' age group, and it is hoped to have the companies at full strength during the next few weeks. Weapon instruction now includes Tommy guns. A number are now available for issue to units, and Instructional classes are being formed.
