Recognition Fund. i The .suggestion was made at a recent meeting of the committee snonisnrin,- the fund, with Mr. E W. Merri wether as vice-chairman, that the (general public would welcome the opportunity provided by a “bands Sunday’’ to contribute to the fund. This suggestion met with the approval of [the meeting, and when approached the hands spontaneously welcomed th? I idea. The nan.!< contributing to the programme will i>- the Wanganui Garrison. the Queen Alexandra Mounted 'Rifles Band, the Wellington West Coast Regimental Band and the Wanganui Highland Pipe Band. Each band will play a hymn and there will be other features to he arrang'd, probably with a drum-major’s display culminating in a massed hands’ rendition of tho National Anthem Voluntary assistance will be forthcoming for the entrance gates to Cook’s Gardens, and it is anticipatei that the effort will result in a handsome sum being raised.
