Rear-Admiral Adolphus Andrews, commander of the North Atlantic coastal frontier, in a speech on the occasion of the commissioning of the destroyer Ellyson, told the crew they can expect to light soon. “You are going into active service,” he said. “This is no time for dreaming. It is up to you to bring us through to the dawn of a new life. The United States Nav\ and Hitler's Navy both know that the sooner more destroyers of this class join the Fleet the sooner the U-boat menace will be exterminated." -U.P.A.
BOARD TO REVIEW PRICES POWERS TO OVERRULE THE ADMINISTRATOR (Reed. 8.4 u p.m.) Washin tun. Nov. 28. The House approved. b\ 13U Votes lu 117, an amendment to the Price Control Bill, establishing a five-man administrative Board of Review with broad powers to over-rule the decrees of the price administrator. The vote is subject to reconsideration by the House. Earlier, the House rejected, by 102 voles to 53, an amendment designed
to freeze wages. The House later passed a Price Control Bill, by 224 votes to 161. after "pulling most of its teeth,” and overwhelmingly rejecting proposal* for wage ceilings or a business licensing system. A coalition of Republicans and Democrats opposed price ceilings on the ground that they would give the Government power to put industry in a straight jacket. U.P.A.
