KEEN INTEREST
WANGANUI BIBLE CLASS COMPETITIONS Rain last night did not materially affect the attendance at lhe Wanganui Inter-Bible Class Competitions annual festival, which was continued at the Savage Club Hall, and keen interest was displayed in the programme. Results are: Scripture Memory Test. Miss Lorna Abernethy (St. Peter’s) and Miss Beverley 'l'rengrove (St. Peter’s* equal, 1: Miss Veronica Martin (St. Peter's* 3. Sunday School Choir.- Christ Church 1. SI. Andrew’s 2. Sacred Solo (ladies).— Mis.> Nancy Chelley (St. Paul's* 1. Miss Isobei Barlrum (Christ Church* 2. Folk Dancing.—Christ Chui ch 1, Trinity 2. Baptist 3. Prepared Speech (time limit 5 minutes*. Mr. John Willetts (Aramoho Methodist) 1. Miss Margaret Reid (St. Paul's* 2. Mr. Archie Simpson (St. Andrew's* 3. A one-act play was staged by St. Peter’s Bible Classes. The judges were as follow : Music. Mr. G. A. D. Mcßeth: elocution and plays. Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Wat kin; physical drill and folk-dancing. Mr. D. P. O'Connor; brass band instrument, Mr. W. G. Hickman; official accompaniste, Mrs. D. Abernethy. L.R.S.M. The festival will be concluded tomorrow night, when the programme will be as follows: Bible reading (18 and over); Bible Class choirs; pianoforte solo (17 and over*; quartette (male or mixed*; non-humorous recitation; contralto solo; humorous recitation. At. the conclusion the awards in the one-act plays will be announced, the judges’ remarks will be submitted, and lhe Buxton Banner will be presented to lhe winners.
