VETERANS' TOURNAMENT Although it had been decided not to hold a veterans' tournament al Belmont this year, there were so manx requests made at the championship tournament that the committee has decided to hold a veterans’ tournament on Monday and Tuesday. October 20 and 21. The conditions will be practically the same as last year. The Gordon- _ Harrison Cup is played over two stroke rounds of 15 holes each or. handicap. There ar? also prizes for the winners ot each individual stroke round. On the afternoon of each day I! a four-ball match will be played ove: 118 holes. On the first day there will |be a bogey handicap and on the i second afternoon a points Stableford ' match will be played In these | ! matches players will arrange theii ’ I own partners and opponents. i The Die-hards trophy will be won I by the player 65 or over who does the 1 best single stroke round in the tour- : nament. Entries close with the secnf tary on Saturday. October 18. and the entrance fee for all events is 10s. I ASTLECLIIT LADIES’ CU B. The Castlecliff Ladies' Golf Club will j play a medal round to-morrow and i Saturday. There will be no draw, but ! members will be paired at the clubI house. Members are requested to ; have their final matches played* by ; October 19, otherwise they will be drawn. ' The best scores in for the L.G.U. I match played last week were:— I Seniors, Mrs. Marshall, 89-13-76; | juniors. Mrs. I. Brown, 105-31-74; Mrs. Shepherd, 100-25-75.
