—- ■ COMPLIMENTARY DINNER PRESENTATION OE TROPHIES On Friday night last. A. Dunstone. proprietor of the Argyle Hotel, tendereo the members of the Hunterville football team a complimentary dinner. There were also a number o£ visitors from other clubs. Apologies were received from Messrs. L. K. Bull. T. James, B. Illston. A. Illston, J. Hurley. Comrie, Ellery, Price, and Rich Those present from other clubs were Messrs. K. A. Williams (secretary Rugby Union). G. Thompson (Referees' Association). L. Mcßeth, H. Stewart (Marton Club), N. Miller, McGuckin (Ohingaiti Club), J. Joll (Primary Schools’. After a most enjoyable dinner, the toast list, which wa s in the hands of the president, Mr. A. Henwood, was proceeded with. It opened with the loyal toast. The ' Armed Forces" was proposed by Mr. Henwood, and in the course of his speech he said that there were 22 of the Hunterville Football Club serving overseas, this being a good record for such a small district. Mr. C. Wright, secretary of the Hunterville Football Club, suitably replied. The "Rangitikei Rugby Union’’ was proposed by Mr. F. England, and Mr. A. Henwood, president of the union, replied. The 'Hunterville Football Club” was proposed by Mr. H. Stewart (Marton). He congratulated the seniors on winning the shield for this season, and stressed the point of keeping the third grade football going. Mr. K. Hammond suitably replied. The "Referees' Association,'' proposed by Mr. Les. Mcßeth (Marton), and Mr. Thompson, president of the association. replied. After congratulating the Hunterville Ciub on its win. he mentioned that during the whole season not one player had been "stood on the bank." The "Primary Schools’ Union" was proposed by Mr. A. Abel. Mr. J. Joll. replying, thanked the Hunterville Club and the Rangitikei Union for the support given during the primaryschools’ football tournament. Mr. Henwood was toasted on the proposal of Mr. K. Hammond. Mr. R Walker proposed the toast of Mr. and Mrs. Dunstone ano the staff Mr. Williams then presented the shield and the Raymond Cup. He congratulated lhe Hunterville Club on winning the trophies, and said that it was in 1925 when the shield was last held by Hunterville. Mr. L. Rowe accepted the trophies on behalf of the seniors, and thanked Mr. Williams for his remarks. Two trophies, kindly donated by Mr. K. Hammond, one each for the most improved player m both grades, went to L. Rowe (senior) and Cornfoot (third grade). Mr. K. Hammond reccvied a hearty vote of thanks for his donation. Mr. T. Husband and Mr. Coleman were thanked for supplying ’he mils-.-, and "Auld Lung Sync" brought a happy evening to a close..
