CARNARVON RESIDENT’S DEATH

mb. g. r. McKenzie The death has occurred of Mr. G. R. McKenzie, Carnarvon, aged 46 years. He was the youngest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas McKenzie pioneer settlers of the Carnarvon district, and farmed the property originally taken up by his parents in 1870. Mr. McKenzie took a keen interest in all activities of the district, and was chairman of the school committee for many years. A hockey enthusiast, he represented the Feilding Hockey Association and played for the Rongotea and Carnarvon Clubs. He was a member of the Home Guard. He is survived by his widow and three children of the tiret marriage (Leading-Aircraftman Vernon McKenzie. who is now in Canada continuing his Air Force training; Ivan and Ailsa). A brother is Mr. T. E. McKenzie. of Akaroa. and three sisters Mrs. P. Scott and Mrs. P>. Wrightson, of Tangimoana. and Mrs. N. N. Barron. of Otaki. The esteem in which the late Mr. McKenzie was held was shown by the large attendance at the funeral. The pall-bearers at the service at the hall were Messrs. T. E. McKenzie. J. C. Scott, S. Armitage. R. Teague, H. Lumsden, and R. Wrightson. At the Fraser Cemetery, at Parewanui. the bearers were Messrs. J. C. Gibbons V. Wallis. A. Buchanan. M. Frecklington. J. Warren, and M. Zajouskowski. The Rev. Crockett officiated at the graveside.
