At 7.30 o’clQck next Friday evening the BBC will broadcast a shortwave talk by Sergeant Collett, in its “Calling New Zealand" session, this talk to be followed by further messages from New Zealand members of the forces on leave in London. Because of seasonal changes, the Pacific service of the BBC from Sunday next will undergo slight alterations. The 7.45 p.m. to 8.15 p.m. service will be altered to 6.10 p.m. to 10 p.m. and the announcement of the week's programmes will be heard at 6.45 p.m. on Sundays instead of 5.30 as at present.

McCallum. under took much research work and compiled materia] for the purpose of boosting Wanganui.” states the annual report of the Wanganui Chamber of Commerce. “In view of the recent decision of the City Council to set up a permanent Tourist Publicity and Development Committee, on which Mr. McCallum is the chamber’s representative, the material collected will be of much value. The chamber congratulates the City Council on its decision to form a Publicity Committee." Night Parades

A suggestion that night parades, extending to later than dawn, be a feature of the training of the 11th. ‘Wanganui) Company of the National Military Reserve, was discussed briefly at a parade of n.c.o.’s of the company last night. It was raised by the company commander. Major J. P. Wells, who stressed how important ii is to train sections of the company in night manoeuvres, with and without motor transport. General approval was voiced at the suggestion and it is to be referred to the officer in charge of training Reserve. Captain T. C. Laidlaw, D.C.M., to be embodied in the summer syllabus. What is proposed will involve parading at 11.30 | p.m. on Saturday and remaining on parade until 5 a.m. on the Sunday.
