FELLED BY BLOW ON HEAD
CHRISTCHURCH SHOP OWNEK FIGHT WITH INTRUDER I l(Press Assn.) Christchurch. Sep: 30. The second man in Christchurch in a few days to be injured in the protection of his property against robbery was admitted Io the Christchurch Public Hospital at 8.36 last night. He is Mr. H. N. Vincent, who was in his leather goods shop in Manchester j Street when he was injured. : Living alone in rooms above the shop, Mr. Vincent heard footsteps at the hack of his premises, and although he is 66 years of age he went down to investigate. Lying in hospital suffering from head injuries, Mr. Vincent to-day was unable to give a clear account of what happened, but it appears he heard someone trying to force an entry' at the back of the shop, where a similar attempt was made some time ago. Going down from his looms he accosted a stranger in an adjoining ivacant section, where they came to grips. Trampled grass showed where they struggled until Mr. Vincent was felled by a blow on the head or tlu won down. He struck his head on a broken brick or fragments of broken (concrete that lie about in the grass.
