Kuch are Wanganui visitors to the Chateau Tongariro. Mrs. G. Hollis and Miss K. O’Sullivan have returned to Hawera after spending a few days in Wanganui. Miss Alison Smith, St. Johns' Hill, is visiting her sister, Mrs. Hughlings Jackson. Auckland. Mrs. Edward Campbell. Rotorua, arrived in Wanganui on Saturday to stay with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Rankin, St. John’s Hill. WOMENS DIVISION FORDELL-MANGAMAHU BRANCH A committee meeting was held in Wanganui on Friday, August 19. Miss Macdonsld, president, was in the chair. Others present were Mesdames L. Kellick, T. Melville, J. Glasgow, H. R. Morgan, K. Aiken, W. Wyley, and G. Wells, and Miss Wyley Apologies were received from Mesdames J. Polson, D. J. Beard, L. Campion, A. H. McLean, R. Christie, C. Woolven, and F. Woollams, and Misses M. Woolven, K. Morgan. S. Campion, M. Williams, and G. Henderson. The meeting opened with the Creed. Members then stood in sympathy with Mrs. J. Hunter in her great loss. It was decided to hold the ‘‘snop’ day early in October. Miss Macdonald reported that 35 articles had been given to a nurses' appeal and 65 articles had been collected for Barnardo Baby Castle. Several letters had been received from soldiers overseas, who had received parcels sent from the branch. Business was then dealt with and the meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the chair. OHINGAITI BRANCH MEETING NARCISSI DISPLAY FOR PARCEL FUND The usual monthly meeting of the Ohingaiti branch of the W.D.F.U. took place in the hall on the afternoon of September 23. Mrs. N. Millar presided over a large attendance of members and visitors. After routine business, numerous letters from soldiers serving with forces overseas were read and all expressed deep appreciation of parcels received from the Ohingaiti W.D.F.U. I The flowers and cooking were j judged by Mrs. T. Pairman, Mangaweka, who complimented the exhibi- , tors on the really outstanding display.
