HOLIDAY IN SOUTH ISLAND
BOYS WENT WITHOUT TELLING PARENTS (Press Assn.) Auckland, Sept. 25. Away since September 2. two Auckland boys have returned home after a holiday in the South Island, during which they travelled as far south as: the Hermitage at Mount Coo;;. They were met by the police in Hamilton on a recent day, when they arrived by the Limited to collect their bicycles. The boys are Clive George Cooper, aged 14, Mount Eden, and John Moore McCombe, aged 13. The adventure started when they decided to have a trip during their term school holidays. They knew their parents’ consent would not be forthcoming, so they decided that it would be wiser to go without giving any prior advice. John McCombe had about £2d in the Post Office Savings Bank, and this was drawn out as funds for the holiday. The other boy had no money.
