HOUSE IN SESSION

TWO UNUSUAL FEATURES NO FORMAL BUSINESS AND NO QUORUM (P.A.) Parliament Bldgs., Sept. 26. Two unusual features marked the sessions of the House of Representatives to-day. At the morning session there was no formal business when the sitting commenced at 10.30, an immediate start being made with the discussion of the Public Works Statement and estimates, for which urgency was granted. No quorum was present in the House at 2.30 p.m. and the bells had to be rung for a few minutes to call together sufficient members for a continuance of the session. Just before the House rose at 5.40 p.m., until 2.30 p.m. on Tuesday, the Local Legislation Bill, containing 45 clauses of purely local application, was introduced by Governor’s message and read a first time. This is the first washing-up Bill which has appeared sc far this session.
