KEEN TO JOIN THE FORCES
LETTERS TO APPEAL BOARD (Press Assn.) Wellington. Sept. 25. Two striking examples of keenness on the part of young men to join the forces were given in letters which came before the Appeal Board to-day. Both referred to appeals by the young men's employers.
One wrote: "If I am made to stay at my work it will be like keeping me in gaol and I will hate my work and will not be happy until I am in the Army.”
In' asking that his name be not published for his wife’s sake, he added: “She might not understand and see things as I see them if she knew I was trying to get into the Army. When this was is over she will be proud of me and until then she would be well looked after. In a time like this the wav to look at it is that no sacrifice is too great.” In another case it was stated that in nis keenness to join the Air Force a reservist had spent two months In hospital for correction to a foot defect and had then worn splints for twe months.
