UNION BOAT CLUB LARGE ATTENDANCE AT ANNUAL MEETING In congratulating the club on the splendid report and balance-sheet, which was presented al the ani|i-u meeting of the Union Boat Club, the president, Mr. M. Ryan, mentioned that the club was already reaping benefits from the coaching of the Technical College boys during the past year. Several of them had left the college and had joined up with the club. There was a large attendance of members, who were enthusiastic about the prospect of the coming season. Election of officers resulted:— president, Mr. M. Ryan; vice-presi-dents, Messrs. E. Ryland, D. Corby, W. Storey, G. G. Mowat, D. Martin, R. Hughes, E. H. Poynter, W. H. Swanger, W. T. Davis, and Sergeant J. B. F. Cotterill, M.P.; club captain, Mr. C. A. Healey, vice-captain, Mr. A. Weir; hon. secretary, Mr E. J. Crotty; hon. treasurer, Mr. E. F. Barry; hon. auditor, Mr. J. C. Brown; committee, Messrs, a. Tonks, W. Ward. L. Hill, W. Coombes, R. Coxon, R. Gould, R. Crombie; Messrs. E. G. Bridges, E. H. Poynter and D. Martin. At the conclusion of the meeting supper was provided by the ladies' committee. WANGANUI CLUB Because of the war steady membership could not be maintained and no programme of events could be drawn up during the 1940-41 season, states the report of the Wanganui Rowing Club, which will be presented to the annua! meeting to-morrow afternoon at the c'ubhouse. The report says that the season opened quietly and was marked by the absence of many members. There were some new members, however, and as a rsult of training the season ended with many promising oarsmen. The club’s plant and equipment is reported to be in good order, after having been worked on by a group of members during the winter. The season’s successes included: — Jury Cup Regatta: Junior Doubles, J. Fletcher (str.) and J- H. Larkin (bow); Maiden Doubles, J. Fletcher (str.) and J. H. Larkin (bow).
