WANGANUI HARRIER CLUB

CLOSE OF THE SEASON The Wanganui Harrier Club concluded the 1941 season on Saturday with a relay race of three-man teams, competing over a course of approximately 21 miles round the Aramoho and Dublin Street Bridges. The race, contested by three teams, resulted as follows: First Lap.—A. Bevege 1, C. Cox 2. H. Hopper 3. Second Lap.—H. Clarke 1, . D Greig 2, A. Rose 3. Third Lap.—J. Carr 1, A. Wells 2. A. Penberthy 3. Final.—A. Bevege’s team 1, H. Hopper’s 2. C. Cox’s 3. Three "mystery” trophies, donated by Mr. A. H. Hurley, went to the last team: C. Cox, A. Penberthy and A. Rose. J. Meikle. Dannevirke Rally (Anderson Gate. B Grade).—J. Carr. D. Moriarty, A. ■Weller. E. Lett. B. Hallam. In the course of his remarks the president. Mr. F. B. Clark, expressed the club's regret at the loss of Mr. E. Gowan, club captain, and made eulogistic reference to the efficient and hard working capabilities of "Ted.” who has been a member of the club for 12 years, and has done yeoman service in the club's interests. Mr. C. R. White, former president and life member, addressed the gathering, his remarks being much appreciated. The ladies were accorded musical honours for their most welcome support throughout the season.
