WAR MAY FLARE UP SITUATION IS TENSE WARNING TO PEOPLE NOT TO TAKE SIDES (Recd. 10.18.) Bangkok, Sept. 21. The Primo Minister of Thailand, .Mr. L. B. Songgram, broadcasting, said: “War involving Thailand may flare up at any moment. The situation has ba come tense. A’i Thais must be strictly neutral. If you take sides you risk war and the Government then cannot guarantee Die country’s safety.”—U.P.A. A message from Singapore says that the Thai Minister there has referred to the friendship between Britain and Thailand regarding the supply of crude oil. He said that there were many signs of the growing friendship between the two countries. BILL RESTRICTING FOREIGNERS REJECTED BY THAI ASSEMBLY (Reed. 7.30 p.m.) Bangkok, Sept. 20. The People’s Assembly, by 32 votes to 24, rejected a private members’ Bill seeking to ban the entry of foreigners of any nationality into Thailand. The Government expressed sympathy, but declined to adopt the Bill. The Minister of the Interior said that Thailand had adequate means of suppressing the fifth column, but admitted the possibility of danger in foreign clement members. He drew attention to Japanese agents recently buying automobiles if Thailand at unusual prices, whereupon the Assembly approved of a Government Bill to control transfers of the titles to automobiles.—U.P.A.
