CONTROL OF STRIKES IN CANADA
(Recd. 5.20 p.m.) Ottawa, Sept. 18. An Order-in-Council prohibits strikes in defence industries except where a majority of workers’ vote in favour. The order further provides that a stike vote must be supervised by the Labour Department. Hitherto, strikes have been illegal before the dispute was examined by the Conciliation Board, whose findings need not be accepted by management or workers. — U.P.A.
