OHAKUNE JUNCTION LEADING
NATIONAL SAVINGS IN WANGANUI AREA PROGRESS REPORT FOR DOMINION
(Press Assn.> Wellington. Aug. 14. The outstanding item in connection with the National Savings flag competition during the fourteenth fortnightly period of the contest, which ended on August 7. was the attainment of 100 per cent, success at three offices in the Invercargill district Edendale, Riverton and Waikaka. At each of these offices the number of depositors now equals the total population. Edendale, as the holder, retains the privilege of flying the flag for the ensuing fortnight. No alteration in the positions of the leading towns in other districts is disclosed, but increased percentages are recorded in each case for all districts.
The leading towns are as follows I Auckland district, Ruawai; Blenheim district, Picton; Christchuruh district Waiau; Dunedin district, Owaka; Gisborne district, Te Araroa; Greymottth district, Hokitika; Hamilton district Rotorua; Invercargill district, Edendale. Riverton, and Waikaka; Napier district, Porangahau; Nelson district. Murchison; New Plymouth district Stratford; Oamaru district, Kurow, Palmerston North district. Pongaroa; Thames district, Thames; Timaru district, Geraldine; Wanganui district. Ohakune Junction; Wellington district, Featherston; Westport district, Westport. For the third stage of the competition. which commenced on August 8, the contest is restricted to towns with i a "population of 1000 or more.
