ALTERNATIVE SERVICE REGULATIONS EXPECTED. Masterton. Aug. 4. A hint that the position in regard lo alternative service for conscientious objectors was likely to be met satisfactorily by action to be taken by the Government in the near future was given by the Hon. W. Perry, M.L.C., in addressing a gathering at Masterton as Dominion president of the Returned Soldiers' Association. "The burning question of alternative service for military objectors at soldiers’ rates of pay should be settled by regulations which the Government intends passing within the next few weeks.” said Mr. Perry. He pointed out that the association had told the Government that the sooner the matter was settled the better, as it. would allay he prevailing feeling of discontent throughout, the Dominion.
