AUCKLAND RACING CLUB EXPERIENCE Auckland, Aug. 12. In reviewing the Auckland Racing Club’s operations during the past year, the president, Mr. Oliver Niciiolson. stated at the annual meeting yesterday that the club had decided to devote its net protits to patriotic purposes and that no profits would accrue to the club while the war lasted. The net profit available for last year had amounted to £3047, and the committee regretted that heavy tax charges had tended materially to reduce the amount. The club had spent in salaries and wages £37,072, had disbursed to contractors and business firms £19,954. paid £65,500 in prizemoney, and had paid to the Government £115.507 in taxation on totalisator operations and £2893 in way of amusement tax. It was also required to pay £26.566 lor inconye tax and social and national security levy, £1566 for land tax, and £2384 as general rates to city and suburban authorities.
