OKOIA DAIRY COMPANY
PAST YEAR’S OPERATIONS CHAIRMAN’S SATISFACTION In spite of higher production costs, the Okoia Co-operative Dairy Company had experienced a very satisfactory year and its operations compared favourably with other factories working under similar conditions, commented the chairman of directors. Mr. T. E. VVihon (Waitotara) at the annual nr ng of suppliers yesterday. The industry received a guaranteed price, but though its'income was fixed, costs kept mounting and this was one of the obstacles faced by the company, Mr. Wilson added. Economies introduced. careful management and other factors, however, had enabled the company to make a further payment of 2Sd a lb. of butterfat to all suppliers, the surplus over advances amounting to £20.538. A new butter churn, costing about £l5OOO. had been purchased by the company last year, and had assisted in reducing operating expenditure to a marked degree. The company’s policy of making liberal provision for reserves and depreciation had been continued and they’ now found themselves in a happy financial position. The pig farm had been well handled and the year was satisfactory. Factory and plant had been maintained in good order. Messrs. J. A. Harkness and A. Turner, who retired by effluxion of time, were again nominated and returned unopposed. The directors are: Messrs. T. E. Wilson, W. C. Simson. J- A. Harkness. L. A. Monk. A. Turner, J. W. Crawley and A. E. Dalgety.
