The Early Settlers' Memorial Aslociation. in making the proposal, dated that the inclusion of the blocks >f stone would give an added sentinental value to the memorial and vould link it with Englund, whence nost of the early settlers had come. The council decided to make appli■ation for the supply of suitable stone hrough Mr. H. Atmore, M.P., 1h" British High Commissioner in New iealand, and the New Zealand High lommissioner in London.
