OPPONENT FOR MR. J. A. LEE
' LABOUR PARTY CHOICE MR. .1. SAYEGH, AUCKLAND Auckland, Aug. 13. A postal ballot to determine the Labour Parly nomination for the Grey Lynn electorate closed on Saturday and resulted in the selection of Mr. J. Sayegh. There were three other aspirants for nomination. Messrs. F. Hackett, J. J. Sullivan and P. McGregor Stewart. Mr. Sayegh is chairman of the Auckland Transport Board and is a member of the Harbour Board, Hospital Board, and the Electric Power Board. He has been connected with the Labour Party for the past 20 years and contested the Mayoralty at the recent elections. The present member for Grey Lynn is the leader of the Democratic Labour Party. Mr. J. A. Lee. From .six nominations, Mr. Eru Pou. of Kaikohe. has been selected to contest the Northern Maori seat in Parliament in the National Party interest. The seat is at present held by the Hon. P. K. Paikea (Labour), representative of the Maori race on the Executive Council. The selection was made at a representative meeting hel-l in Waiomio.
