Chinese Had £581 In Cash.
Two middle-aged Chinese market gardeners, Ah Gip and Ah Hen. of Oakleigh. who were within an hour of sailing for a holiday to China, when arrested, were each fined £25 in the City Court. Melbourne. on charges, under the National Security regulations, of having attempted to take money out of Australia. In the case of Ah Gip, the money he was alleged to have attempted to take out amounted to £440 in Australian notes, and in Ah Hen’s case, the value of the' notes was £l4l.
