GERMANS MAY LEAVE PARIS TRANSFER OF PRISONERS FOR AFRICAN BASES London, Aug. 10. It is reported from New York that the Vichy Cabinet has signed an agreement witli Germany to assist the Reich in the war against Russia, both offensively and defensively. The New York Times correspondent in Switzerland declares that Admiral Darlan forced the agreement through despite the opposition of General Weygand and other members of the Cabinet. The bait held out to France is that further French prisoners wil: be returned to France in exchange for war materials. It is further hinted that the Germans have even offered to leave Paris, but this be conditional upon Vichy granting the use of cases in Dakar and’ Casablanca.
