MAYOR AND .MAYORESS OF HASTINGS. (Press Assn.) Hastings Aug. 1. Representatives of all sections ol the community assembled las. evening to pay tribute to the faithful service given over a long period by Mr. G. A. Maddison and Mrs. Maddison. Mr. Maddison recently retired from the mayoralty after 161 years in office. As an expression of the people’s regard and appreciation a handsome silver tea service and a cheque were presented to Mr. and Mrs. Maddison, speakers paying tribute to Mr. Maddison’s efficient administration of the borough affairs and of his interest in patriotic work and boys going overseas.
