AUXILIARY IN WANGANUI At a meeting of the Wanganui branch of the Women's War Service Auxiliary, the following reports from sub-committees were received; Physical Training.—Mrs. Newsome reported that because of the Queen Carnival Coronation ceremony then would be no class on Wednesday. July 23. The next military parade will be held on Saturday, August 2. Bicycle Corps.—Mrs. Nelson stated that a general assembly of all cyclists will be held at the W.W.S.A. rooms on Monday next. Spinning.—Mrs. Denniston reported having received various enquiries regarding the spinning section from surIrounding districts. Several spinners will travel to Bulls on Wednesday, July 30, to demonstrate Mr. Waldie’s attachment. Child Welfare.—A meeting of al! conveners, wardens and others who I have offered their assistance in any I capacity under the child welfare |scheme, will be held in the Y.W.C.A. Lounge on Wednesday afternoon, July 30. At this meeting Mrs. Bates will explain the scheme fully and detail the various duties. Lectures on chil.'. management, arranged by the Plunket Society, will commence on Tuesday, August 12, at the Plunket Rooms. These lectures, which are open to anyone, will be given by Miss B. Ogden, senior Plunket nurse. Those desirous of attending must register al the W.W.S. office on or before July 131. I Emergency Precautions Scheme.— i Mrs. Shanks reported having received |a letter from Mr. F. H. Bethwaite. giving particulars of positions still jopen in the food and supplies section. Issuers are required at the following depots for issuing groceries, milk, meat, bread, clothing and household I utensils: Headquarters, Technical I College; public schools at Aramoho.
Castlccliff and Wanganui East. Sunday Schools at Brassoy Road, St, John’s Hill, and Durie Hill. The services of typists and records clerks are also required. Persons willing to act in this capacity r.re asked to a; ply at the W.W.S.A. office, where further details are available. The W.W.S.A. office will not be open on Friday evenings in future. Office hours will be 12 to 4 Monday to Friday inclusive.
