UNAUTHORISED USE
BADGES AND UNIFORMS RESTRICTIONS IMPOSED. Wellington, July 18. Announcing that the Uniforms and Badges Emergency Regulations were being gazetted the acting-Prime Minister said yesterday that as the wearers of uniforms will play an important part in the defence of the Dominion it was essential that every precaution should be taken to prevent unauthorised wearing and possible abuse. The Regulations do not prohibit the wearing of emblems made in the form of service badges, provided such miniature does not exceed half the size of the badge copied. The Regulations provided that the sale or supply of uniforms, badges, and emblems of any of His Majesty’s forces could only be made in future after the proper authority had been secured. The restriction would also apply to the Emergency Reserve Corps, fire brigades, and the ambulance service. Permission to supo!;these goods would be secured m the cases of the Services from the Naval, Atlr.y oi Air Secretaries, and in other cases from the Director of National Service Men seeking to purchase these articles would also have to produce ar authority, so a double check wonk, be kept. The wearing of uniforms, badges, or emblems that may be mistaken for the service articles is also prohibited.
