N.Z. LADY GALWAY GUILD Since the Raetihl branch of the above guild was formed on June 27, 1940, splendid results have been achieved by members who have met each Wednesday in the guild room, Seddon Street, Raetihl. Through their endeavours, country group members, and other members who have worked in their homes, the following parcels have been forwarded to headquarters: 2331 garments, 32 pairs new boy's pants, 19 pairs boots and shoes, and 117 quilts, making 2480 articles. Thanks are due to all who have worked so well; to Mrs. Gardiner, who has supplied carded wool from the fleece (for quill making), and to all persons who have sent in parcels of clothing, etc. There Is a further need of old clothing, which kindly leave at guild rooms.
VVAIMARINO GOLF CLUB The third qualifyin ground played on July 13, resulted in some very poor scores. The one highlight of the day was C. Thomas' 86—26 —60, which gave him a well merited win in the seventh medal played in conjunction with the qualifying round. The draw for the senior championship is as follows: Jones v. Harris, Mcßride v. Manson, Huddleston v. Cavanagh, Turner v. Gould. The draw for the Gould Cup (intermediate championship) is as follows: Wilson v. Thomas, Colthart v. Strachan, Davies v. Webb, Lewis v. Gerrahy. The draw for the McKay Cup, to be played on handicap, is as follows: A. G. Urwin v. FeLham, F. C. Malpas v. Sims, A. E. Urwin v. Ritchie, F. S. Baddeley v. Blacklock, P. N. Baddeley v. C. H. Malpas, Hall v. White, Bell v. Davis, Hay v. Byrt. Next Sunday the final round of the captain’s trophy will be played and in conjunction with this a four-ball best-ball bogey competition will be played. Players are requested to select their own partners and notify the secretary by noon on July 20. The draw will be made at the clubhouse before the start of play on Sunday next.
