BILLS Mts. L. Whisker. Waipukuiau, is visiting her mother. Mrs. R. C. S. McKenzie, Parewanui. Mr. H. B. Gifford left yesterday for a fortnight's holiday in Wanganui ana Wellington. Mi', and Mrs. A. V. Edwards and family have returned from Parapaiaumu, where they spent a short holiday. Mr. W. A. Stevenson, of Howick, who lived here a few years ago, is spending a short holiday in Bulls. Mr. P. A. Doughty is spending a few days in Wellington at present. PATEA Mr. and Mrs. C. P. Bates, of Wanganui, were visitors to Patea last week. Mr. and Mrs. Ness have returned from a holiday in Wellington. Miss D. Turner and Miss M. McDougall have returned from their school vacation. Misses Shirley Machen and Nancy Souness have returned to Wanganui after spending the school vacation with their parents. TAIHAPE Miss Bessie Adlam, who has been spending the school holidays in Taihape, left on Saturday morning on her return to Christchurch. Misses B. Olliver, N. Haydon, and P. Ferguson, students at the Christchurch Teachers’ Training College, who have been home on vacation, resumed their training yesterday. Mr. and Mrs. J. Bradley, of Te Awamutu, are visiting Taihape. Miss P. McKenzie, who has been spending the school holidays in Taihape, has returned to Manunui. Sergeant-Pilot E. A. Olliver, of the R.N.Z.A.F., is home on leave. Mr. Gus Loader, a member of the R.N.Z.A.F., at present home on vave, has received notice to report at the training school at Levin for a special course of instruction before proceeding overseas. He will leave Taihape for Levin in about a fortnight's time.

Mr. lan McKenzie, of the R.N.Z.A.F., has been transferred from Levin'to Harwood. . The relatives of P. Leary and R. Bell, Second N.Z.E.F., have received advice that they are safe. Mr. J. Belk, who is in camp at Papakura, visited Taihape during the week-end to attend the wedding of his sister, Muriel. The resignation of Miss G. M. Speedy, a member of the staff of the Taihape District High School, was accepted with regret at Monday's meeting of the Taihape School Committee and the secretary was instructed to write her a letter of appreciation of her past services. Misses Munro and Barry have joined the staff of the Taihape District High School and took up their new duties on Monday. Miss G. M. Guthrie, of the staff of the Taihape District High School, left on Monday to relieve at the Marton District High School.
