WINTER FREIGHT TRAINS EXODUS OF TARANAKI STOCK Freight traffic in the Wanganui railway district is keeping up to normal winter levels and phosphate works at Aramoho and Smart. Road are loading out steadily. In some instances, this traffic is heavier now than it was during the corresponding period last year. Fat sheep traffic to the various freezing works is practically finished for the sea..on. but the annual exodus of yearling and weancr cattle from Taranaki to the Waikato districts is now in progress. This involves the transportation of thousands of head of cattle each year, and though normal services are coping with the demand, specials are arranged when the number of wagons exceeds the loading limits of available trains.
