BOARD OF TRUSTEES NEW MEMBER APPOINTED MR. W. J. SIM. OF WELLINGTON. Mr. W. J. Sim, K.C., Wellington, has been appointed a member of the Whanganui College Board of Trustees in place of Lieutenant-Colonel F. K. Turnbull, who has resigned, and Messrs. D. 11. Riddiford (Featherston) and H. F. Arkwright (Marton), whose term had expin'd, have been reappointed. Mr. W. J. S.m. K.C.. »as born in Dunedin in 1890, being the son of Sir William S.m. and was educated at the Otago Boys' High School (19021905). Wanganui Collegiate School >1906-191)9i. and Victoria University College. He graduated bachelor of laws in 1913. In 1914 he was appointed Commissioner of Police and Crown Prosecutor of Samoa on the appropriation of that colony from Germany, and from 1915 to 1919 he served in the Army with the Argyle and Sutherland Highlanders, winning the Military Cross and the Medaillc d'Honneur.
Returning to New Zealand. Mr. Sim practised in Christchurch until 1939. when he-took silk. He was a member of the Christchurch City Council from 1925 to 1927. He is the editor of "Practice of Supreme Court and Court of Appeal of N.Z.'; "Sim on Divorce."
