BOMBING OF ENGLAND
BABY RESCUED ALIVE LONDON, Feb. 24. Rescuers ein a north-east coast town bombed on Sunday night worked throughout the night to find an 18-months-old baby whose mother and two other women were killed. A faint cry was heard at daybreak and ton hours after the bombing the baby was found in a cot among the wreckage. The baby was slightly injured and was admitted to hospital. Another mother with a year-old baby was killed when a terrace of houses was hit. The bodies of a man and woman were recovered, the woman being buried in rubble up to the neck. A boy aged 14 was so pinned down that it took four hours to rescue him. A man, wife, and baby were brought out and taken to hospital, homeless. They showed the greatest fortitude and were later taken to rest rooms, where they were visited by the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress.
