CONCESSIONS ON TRAMS UNIVERSAL RETURN FARE Privilege fares on tramcars for members of the Home Guard were granted by the Wanganui City Council, at its meeting last night, following a recommendation made by the sub-committee appointed to consider the question. The sub-committee, which consisted of the Mayor, Hon. W. J. Rogers, M.L.C., Cr. S. J. Harris, the city engineer, Mr. L. F. Row, and the town clerk, Mr. C. R. White, reported that it had conferred with the area commander of the Home Guard, Major R. D. Hardie, D. 5.0., and Captain W. H. Cannan. The recommendation of the subcommittee was as follows: — “That' a universal return fare of 6d be charged, the distinguishing arm band of the Home Guard to be worn on occasions of travel. “The concessions, which shall operate from Monday, February 17, will apply on parade nights held in the city, from Monday to Thursday, provided Home Guard passengers travel on trams arriving in the city up to and including 7 p.m. They must leave on the return journey by trams scheduled to depart from the city up to and including 10 p.m.”
